Joe hesitates: should he hire an employee or contract a self-employed professional? After some research, he decides to go for employment. He posts a message on LinkedIn to find the perfect candidate.  

Soon, he receives an enthusiastic response from Francis. After a pleasant conversation and some excellent coffee. Joe decides to hire Francis as his first employee. Before Joe officially becomes an employer, he needs to take a few steps.  

- He notifies the Tax Administration that he is an employer. 

- He also reports this change in his business to the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce. 

- Joe and Francis need to agree on the employment terms.  

Together, they discuss her wages, holiday entitlement and allowance, pension and the duration of the contract."
